Stokes Decorators was established in 1920, a family business where quality and high standards of service are the most important considerations, from which the company has gained a national reputation for excellence. But these high standards do not mean that Stokes Decorators do not like getting their hands dirty. Every type of project is undertaken from decorating a smoke damaged factory to a listed building. People come to Stokes with a broad range of requirements, and some of those clients include:

aboutLocal Authorities NHS Trusts / Hospitals Schools / Colleges / Universities Hotels Banks Private Individuals Local Companies Factories / Manufacturing Companies Churches / Cathedrals Commercial Offices Historical Buildings Restaurants.

From a private house to a country hotel, cathedral, commercial offices or factories, every client is treated with the same courtesy, care and special attention.

A visit by one of the Directors always precedes a quotation. In this initial briefing they will ascertain customers’ needs and make sure that any special requests are observed, e.g. no smoking, no radios on site etc. They will then personally monitor the progress of the job on a daily basis.

This courtesy and attention to detail starts within the company itself. Every employee is known personally by Donald and Simon Stokes and some have been with the company for three decades or more, true craftsmen with real pride in their work. Such a relationship between staff and Directors is unusual in this day and age and guarantees customers a high degree of reliability.

All employees are continually reminded that the image and the presentation of the company to the public is vital. Much care has been taken over the years in producing distinctive company vans, signboards and company logo and the company’s offices on North Road remain something of a local landmark.

Because Stokes Decorators consistently produce high quality work for many prestigious clients, the client with the smaller budget could be forgiven for expecting Stokes to be expensive. Yet over 90% of the company’s business is won on competitive tenders.

Stokes will often take on the role of main contractors, having a long established team of regular sub-contractor carpenters, electricians, plumbers, ceiling, curtain and flooring specialists.

Whether decorating one house or a larger contract, Stokes can be relied upon to complete the job quickly, cost effectively and very professionally.
